Volunteers at the Dorset County Museum give thousands of hours to the Museum each year. In return, they are involved in a wide range of activities, from documenting and cleaning archaeological finds to helping with events.

volunteer working in the archaeology departmentThe Museum's textiles, art, literary and photographic collections are all looked after by volunteer experts, and a team of volunteers run the Museum's library, where many important antiquarian volumes are housed. Volunteering is a great way to meet like-minded people, and offers the opportunity to learn new skills. It is also a very satisfying way to spend time.

The Museum simply could not manage such a breadth of activity without the help of its volunteer force. We are always looking for more volunteers, and at present we would particularly welcome those with computer skills to help the Museum's Documentation Officer. If you would like to become a volunteer please telephone the Museum office on 01305 262735.
