Saturday 5 January
Magic Lanterns
Make your own Victorian-style lantern show with animated images and mechanical parts. Build your own theatre and projection screen to take home with you. Victorian Hall
Saturday 9 February
Flipping Valentines
(humorous sketch) Have a look behind some of the traditions and folklore of love. Make pop-up cards and learn some novel cardboard engineering tricks to impress your true love (and your mum and dad). School Room and Galleries.
If this is all too much, why not just make some pancakes and race them the length of the old Victorian Hall and back, then finish off with a wild game of 'Shrove tide Football'!

Saturday 15 March
'Eggtastic' Egg-flying Contraptions.
(humorous sketch) Become an Eggtastical Inventor, make an egg-flinging machine and see who can fling the egg furthest.
Or parachute an egg from the Museum balcony or make an egg glider and see if you can fly the egg to the end of the hall.
Discover some of the traditions behind egg rolling and help hunt down chocolate eggs hidden in the Museum. Prizes will be given! School Room and Victorian Hall

Saturday 12 April
National Science Week
(humorous sketch) Come and be an Inventor, Scientist or Explorer with the Museum Club. Start with a science show about the Mad Inventors of years gone by and discover the strange and daft stories behind everyday gadgets and objects (illustrated by some of the Museum's exhibits).
Followed by hands-on workshops for making and inventing your own machines, tools, devices and gadgets. School Room

Saturday 10 May
Big Spring Cook-Out
(humorous sketch) Make, cook and eat your own meal using traditional outdoor techniques and recipes with cooking methods such as 'pit oven', 'baking box', making a cake in a frying pan and many more.
Just bring a hungry grown-up with you. Venue : Prince of Wales School in the Celtic Village

Saturday 7 June
Victorian Pick-Nick in the Town Park
(humorous sketch) Hampers of snacks and fun (come dressed for the occasion). Meet at the town's 'Victorian Park' and make some history at our outdoor workshops. Make traditional kites inspired by the Victorian Flying Men and Women.
Have a spin with your very own spinning top, and make your own Victorian or Edwardian garden games kit. Venue : Borough Gardens

Saturday 18 August
Time.. Making sun clocks. water clocks and moon clocks. There will also be a presentation all about time and how to measure it, and a heap of other things to do and find out about. Parents are encouraged to stay for this event as there will be lots of opportunities for practical activities.
Venue: Borough Gardens if fine, the Museum if not.
