| The
Dorset County Museum joined forces with the Dorset Natural History and Antiquarian
Field Club in 1928 to form the Dorset Natural History and Archaeological Society.
Today
the Society remains a lively organisation, with just under 2,000 members. Members
receive a number of special privileges, including: - unlimited
free entry into the Museum and its exhibition programme
-
free access to the Society's Library, where you can relax with the paper, or delve
into one of the library's many fascinating books
-
a regular newsletter
- 60 free events, including
lectures, field meetings and guided walks
-
a free copy of the Proceedings of the DNH&AS, with articles on history, archaeology,
geology and the natural sciences (certain categories of membership only)
Amongst
the extensive range of lectures and talks are series on archaeology, geology,
travellers' tales, art and literature and local history. For more information
see our events pages. With membership from only £21
this offers real value for money. Yet perhaps the most satisfying thing about
membership of the Dorset Natural History & Archaeological Society is knowing
that you are contributing to the vital work of conserving the history, archaeology
and wildlife of Dorset for future generations. For details of membership and an
