Red Priest: Baroque Bohemians
Red Priest is the only early music group in the world to have been compared in the press to the Rolling Stones, Jackson Pollock, the Marx Brothers, Spike Jones and the Cirque du Soleil. This extraordinary acoustic foursome has been described by music critics as ‘visionary and heretical’, ‘outrageous yet compulsive’,‘wholly irreverent and highly enlightened’, ‘completely wild and deeply imaginative’, with a ‘red-hot wicked sense of humour’ and a ‘break-all-rules, rock-chamber concert approach to early music’.
"Baroque "Red Priest” is like no other early music instrumental ensemble you have ever heard... bringing glee to the concert scene for a decade or more... transforming Baroque clichés into vivid drama, often at terrific speed and with practised coordination.... [with] a bedrock of tremendous skill and timing.” DAILY TELEGRAPH
Dorset County Museum Music Society
Six fine professional chamber concerts given in St Mary’s Church and the United Church Dorchester. These temporary venues are necessitated by the closure of the Dorset County Museum building and its wonderful Victorian Hall, the home of the DCMMS for 44 years, during the extensive and hugely exciting building works - Tomorrow's Museum for Dorset - funded through the Heritage Lottery Fund. We look forward to our return to the Museum for the start of the 2020/2021 season.
